Poem of the Week – “Poem #2”

“Poem #2”

You can tell me six million things

each night, after the moon has

long been watching over us from

countless miles away, but please

just promise me one thing. That

when the sun finally peaks through

the trees, and the air is once again

filled with the crisp smell of morning

dew, and the sound of the busy city

waking from the restful sleeps is

all around you, please just promise

that you will love me even still. The

same way you do when all the lights

go down, and as your eyes get heavier

the words “you are everything” fall out

of your mouth like it was the only phrase

your lips were ever meant to spill to me.
